Hi guys! As promised I am back and on track!
I am so incredibly happy to announce our August Book Club read: Mikhail Bulgakov’s classic The Master and Margarita. I’ve been wanting to read this book for approximately 13 years, as almost everyone I look up to in my life, has truthfully told me this is probably the best book they have ever read. Don’t ask me why it took me so long to get to it, as I honestly wouldn’t know the answer. But let’s leave that in the past, and focus on the present; the only thing that matters now, is that I’ll finally get the chance to read this gem, and hopefully share this magical experience with many of you guys.
As now-traditional, I will let the book synopsis introduce you to the read:
‘Nothing in the whole of literature compares with The Master and Margarita. One spring afternoon, the Devil, trailing fire and chaos in his wake, weaves himself out of the shadows and into Moscow. Mikhail Bulgakov’s fantastical, funny, and devastating satire of Soviet life combines two distinct yet interwoven parts, one set in contemporary Moscow, the other in ancient Jerusalem, each brimming with historical, imaginary, frightful and wonderful characters. Written during the darkest days of Stalin’s reign, and finally published in 1966 and 1967, The Master and Margarita became a literary phenomenon, signaling artistic and spiritual freedom for Russians everywhere.’ – Penguin Classics (Deluxe Edition).
Doesn’t this make you want to dive right into it?!
For those of you who are going to join our August Book Club, please read up chapter 19 by Wednesday the 15th of August. On that day, I will be publishing a Q&A on the first half of the book. Be sure to check in on my Instagram too, to find out when our next Instagram Live Book Club Chat will be!
I can’t wait to get started! Are you going to read Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita with me? Please let me know if you are going to tag along, by replying in the comments below!
Stay tuned, cause I’ll talk to you soon!
Love,
Elly, XO
