Hello guys! Welcome back to my blog. Two blog posts in a row…how amazing is that? As promised, today I will be telling you what we’ll be reading next for our Elly’s Diary 2018 Book Club Challenge!
I am so excited to announce that our next read will be Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Scottish writer Gail Honeyman. I confess that I have been a little cheeky this time, and I have to admit that I already started reading it… However I beg for forgiveness, and I promise that I will make it up to you somehow!
After two months reading two undeniably mind opening Classics, I thought it would be great to pick for our June Book Club read a more contemporary, yet still incredibly successful, novel. For some unexplainable reason, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, was everywhere on my Social Media. All the Bookstagrammers I follow and all my real-life book-loving friends, recommended and truly loved this book. I was somehow really drawn to it, so my choice this time was actually quite easy .
Young British contemporary authors, are probably amongst my current favourite group of writers. I just love their plot timing, their vision, their perspective and their unique irony. I have yet to pick up a book written in the last 10 years by a promising UK writer that has actually managed to disappoint me. I have great expectations for this one too, I am pretty sure I will love it! (I already am…).
As you’ll all know by now, my favourite way to introduce you to a new read, is always by using the author’s synopsis on the back of the book (just to make sure I’m not spoiling anything for you guys).
So without further ado…here we go:
Eleanor Oliphant leads a simple life. She wears the same clothes to work every day, eats the same meal deal for lunch every day and buys the same two bottles of vodka to drink every weekend.
Eleanor Oliphant is happy. Nothing is missing from her carefully timetabled existence. Except, sometimes, everything…
Our mid-read Q&A on the book will be on the 17th of June 2018. Be sure you read up to chapter 20 by then, if you decide you are going to read along.
Are you going to read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine with me?
Have a wonderful day!
Love,
Elly, XO
